How are Travelers Shopping for Their Rental?

We surveyed 300 people to better understand their shopping behaviors and what they believe makes a perfect vacation getaway home choice. The results didn't necessarily surprise us since we work so closely in the industry, but they might surprise you. Here's what we found:

Almost half (45%) of all respondents said if they have a question about the property, they don't take the time to ask and instead move on to the next property.

This unexpected listing enhancement is especially beneficial for both travelers and renters combined.

Don't mislead your guests with inaccurate features.

More than half of the people who responded to our poll (56%) agreed that 3D renderings help highlight features of a rental, and they give the impression that the host is honest. This is important because, as we all know, first impressions are everything. If a potential renter sees that you've gone above and beyond to put your best foot forward, they'll be more likely to book with you over another host. Even more, 40% of renters believe 3D renderings can only help increase the value and conversion of a rental listing.


Across our survey, it was overwhelmingly evident that consumers appreciate being able to see what they're getting themselves into before they book, and they don't want to take the time to pour over your listing to figure it all out. Over 63% said they'd prefer a still image of a 3d floor plan rendering over a video walkthrough. If they have a question, nearly half (45%) said they'd move on to a different property and not bother asking a question.
